This was one of my favorite school projects so I decided to keep it on my professional website just for some good laughs:

The Cabanger (Cabana + Hanger)  is a water resistant pool lounger built out of PVC pipes and 1,000 plastic hangers. As a design team we were interested in taking an object that people interact with every day and changing the properties and limits of the material to become unrecognizable at first to the human eye. The filling material (hangers) on their own are structurally too unstable to hold the weight of a person, however, the combined members transform this conventional everyday object into the perfect shoulder-width truss to lounge on and enjoy a hot day in the sun. The looped canopy has been designed to serve as a shading device and the ideal seat to share a conversation between a group.
